Councillors & MP's

Who can be a Councillor; Becoming a Parish Councillor - Your Parish Councillors - Voluntary Officers - Wards & County Divisions - District Councillor - County Councillor - Parliament Constituency - European Parliamentary region

Your Parish Council

The parish council is elected every four years. The last Misson Parish election took place on 6th May 2010. The majority of parish councils in England are not divided on 'political party' lines but exist to represent local people  on local issues. Decisions made by the council are decided by a simple majority vote of councillors at public meetings. Misson Parish Council meets on the first Wednesday of each month. There is not normally a meeting in August.

Misson Parish Council consists of seven elected Councillors. In addition to attending the regular monthly meetings councillors will also attend sub-committees and undertake other work on behalf of the council.  An individual Councillor may be elected by the council as a representative on other bodies such as the local  school governing body.

A Parish councillor may be contacted directly by a member of the public with a genuine local concern. The Parish Councillor will raise that concern to the council at the monthly public meeting.
